Newt Gingrich announced his divorce to Callista and new marriage to younger, richer heiress Paris Hilton Tuesday afternoon, only to lose the Florida primary six hours later.
"What's wrong with you people?" Gingrich asked 1,500 supporters after the loss.
"Doesn't your state recognize the standard-bearer of integrity and conservative values when they see it?"
Hilton-Gingrich had apparently been Gingrich's mistress for months, drawing parallels to his pattern of past betrayals and infidelities.
"This is nothing like my previous wife-swaps," Gingrich said, "Callista doesn't have a terminal illness."
Many have questioned Hilton-Paris's interest in the 68-year-old politician.
"Newt-daddy promised me I could be first lady," said Hilton-Gingrich. "That's totally hot."
Mitt Romney won the state's 50 delegates and MoveOn.org has already started a petition banning the couple from leaking a sex tape.m
